Yes, it took about a month of planning. Gotta have all the ingredients and enough time to cook all of the traditional 12 dishes!!
Ok, so here we go:
1. Crackers with garlic and honey
2. Herring (what goes well with vodka, after all??)
3. Kutya - it's wheat mixed in with poppy seeds and honey
4. Mushroom soup with barley
5. Mashed potatoes with onions
6. Mushroom gravy to go with the potatoes (yes, we count this as a separate dish :)
7. Vinegret salad - beans, carrots, beets, sauerkraut - main ingredients
8. Fried fish
9. Segedinskiy - stewed cabbage with carrots
10. Beets with horseradish - spicy good!
11.Eggplants with garlic - lightly fried
12.Green beans.
Did you notice: there is no meat included in the menu? Mike kept telling me he'd go buy some ham for himself, but I asked nicely if it could wait till next day. After all, how can you be hungry after eating all 12 dishes??
