Our baby just turned 2! It is becoming more and more fun to spend time with her as she learns and absorbs like a sponge. Her switching between the 2 languages is fascinating, even though I did the same between my parents (Russian and Ukrainian) when I was little. Going to pre-school twice a week for half a day also does wonders. They have a whole curriculum they follow, and every minute is filled with an activity, like singing, going to the gym, playing outside, creating a masterpiece, learning Spanish words and sign language, training to potty. Every week has a different theme, which is great for a child's development.
Olivia has progressed a lot in her language skills. Some phrases she says are flat out funny. She sings "Tickle, tickle, little star", or says "happy due date cake!" read "happy birthday cake". I'll share those "pearls" as I hear them :)
Now, back to Olivia's birthday. We celebrated with our Mom's Club friends and neighbors. We've decided to take it easy with food this year, since I was 37 weeks pregnant at the time and not quite feeling well.. So we had an all-American favorite food: hot dogs with ketchup/ relish/ mustard/ sliced onions; Bushes baked beans, potato salad, chips with corn dip, mixed fruit. For the dessert we've decided to go with the tres leches cake - everybody loved it! The whole celebration turned to be a fun event, even though we missed my parents and our Portland/ Hawaiian family. Wish we were all together!
